Dine with award-winning chef, restaurateur, Good Food columnist and TV presenter Karen Martini at her hatted Melbourne restaurant, Hero, and discover insights into her cooking. She’ll also reveal her must-eat dishes and must-visit culinary destinations.
The menu for the Good Food x Cunard lunch on Sunday, August 27 has been curated by Martini, and will also feature a Q&A with the celebrated chef, hosted by Good Food’s editor Ardyn Bernoth.
Guests will be served a series of snacks, a main with sides and dessert, starting with potato bread with fermented blueberry and Woodside goat’s curd. That’s followed by cured Hiramasa kingfish with goat’s curd, pickled fennel, lime pearls and onion shoots, along with vitello tonnato with parmigiano reggiano, capers, anchovy and celery fritte. The final entree is gnocchi with winter greens sauce and pickled mushroom.
Guests will then be served a main of saltbush lamb cutlets with green goddess salsa verde, jus gras, fermented garlic and gnocchi romano. There’s a cosberg salad with buttermilk on the side. And to finish? The Martini family tiramisu.
Dishes will be served in a sharing style, with individual beverages priced on consumption.
During the lunch, Good Food’s Ardyn Bernoth will chat to Karen Martini about Hero and what inspires her cooking. Martini opened Hero in 2021 at ACMI in Federation Square, serving food that lets the best of Victorian seasonal produce shine. The chef will also talk about her restaurant on the Queen Elizabeth for The Great Australian Culinary Voyage, setting sail from Melbourne on January 5, 2024.
