Friday, August 11
Theatre: Capricorn
A couple negotiates the breakdown of their relationship while their pet goldfish looks on in Aidan Rowlingson’s surreal study in contemporary anxieties.

Kids: The Ekka
Get your fix of dagwood dogs, showbags and thrill rides – but don’t forget the animals and the competitions (we’re there for the cake decorating for sure). Exhibition Station is closed, so plan your transport accordingly.

Sport: FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-final
If you haven’t already got tickets you’re probably not going to get them to see the Matildas take on France in a match that will stop the nation. So, have you planned your screening party?

Festivals: Bleach*
For its 12th year, this arts festival takes over North Burleigh, Broadbeach, Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens and HOTA (Home of the Arts), where roller-skating musical Roller Coaster is rexing (look it up) onto the main outdoor stage.

Sunday, August 13
Art: Two Irresistible Exhibitions: Michael Zavros & eX de Medici
The mythic photorealism of Zavros joins the maximalist dissent of eX de Medici in two shows giving local artists the blockbuster treatment.

Shopping: Milton Markets
These bustling weekly markets a stone’s throw from Lang Park cram a lot of goodness into a smallish space. Get a life-changing loaf from bakery stalls such as Artisan Bread Box or Leavain Organic Sourdough, or sample freeze-dried lollies from Mrs Frost.

Cabaret: Endo Days
Libby Trainor Parker and her four-piece band explore the funny side of endometriosis in this Adelaide Fringe hit.
